How to write a review that other traders can use

If you traded with the firm, your review belongs here — here is how to write one that actually helps other traders.

Write about a challenge you actually paid for

RateThePropFirm is for traders reviewing firms they put money into. If you bought the evaluation, blew the account, hit payout, or are still trading funded — you can review. If you only watched a YouTube review or read the Discord, you cannot.

We may ask for proof: an order confirmation, a dashboard screenshot, or a payout receipt with personal details blacked out. Reviews with proof carry a verified badge and weigh more in the firm's TrustScore.

Be specific. Numbers beat adjectives.

A good review names the account size, the phase you were in, the profit target, the drawdown rule that tripped you (or did not), the day you requested payout, and the day it landed. Dollar amounts and dates. Staff first names if support helped or stonewalled you.

"Great firm, fast payouts" tells nobody anything. "$100k 2-step, 8% target, hit payout day 17, $4,200 wired in 46 hours via Rise" tells a trader whether to buy the challenge.

  • Account size and phase (evaluation, verification, funded).
  • Profit split, drawdown type, consistency rule, scaling plan.
  • Payout method, payout amount, days from request to receipt.
  • Platform, data feed, and any slippage or execution issues you can quantify.

Review the firm, not the people

Rate the product: the evaluation, the rules, the payout, the platform. Support staff get named only by first name and only in the context of the service they gave you. No home addresses, no personal phone numbers, no photos, no last names of employees or other traders.

No slurs, no threats, no illegal content, no copy-paste from another site or another firm's forum. Reviews that read as pasted boilerplate get removed.

One review per firm. Edit it anytime.

You get one review per firm, under one account. If your experience changes — a payout cleared after a delay, a rule got rewritten, support finally answered — edit the review you already wrote. Do not open a second account to stack ratings.

If you traded with the same firm under two different programs (say, the $25k and the $200k), say so inside the one review. Traders reading want the arc, not two half-stories.

Disclose any conflict

Tell us up front if you work for the firm, used to work for the firm, run an affiliate link for it, got the challenge comped, or trade for a competitor. Disclosure does not get your review removed. Hiding the conflict does.

What we remove

We take down reviews that have no proof of a funded or paid evaluation account when the firm disputes them, reviews that name private individuals, reviews that copy another post, and reviews that threaten staff. We also pull reviews written to pump a referral link.

The firm itself can respond publicly to any review and can dispute one through desk@ratethepropfirm.com. Disputes do not auto-delete anything — a human reads the thread and decides.

Report a review

Every review has a Report link under the body. Use it for the categories above or email desk@ratethepropfirm.com with the review URL and one sentence on why. We aim to answer within three trading days.
